Twenty-three Gulf Coast Chapter NRHS members
and friends traveled to San Antonio and Flatonia May 21 to tour a variety
of historic rail facilities, including two beautifully renovated railroad
stations, a working car and locomotive repair facility and a restored interlocking
tower.
In addition, the group sought out what is believed
to be the only remaining architectural element of MKT's demolished San
Antonio depot. The decorative door surround now graces a window at
one of the buildings in San Antonio's Los Patios retail complex, where
the tour group stopped for lunch.
