    Clinics and Tours

    The convention clinics and tours promise to be informative and entertaining.  Here’s a sample of what we have planned; more details will be posted when they become available.

    Non-rail tour

    The non-rail bus tour takes place on Thursday, June 5.  This guided tour starts with a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston’s Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens.  Visitors will be able to stroll through the 14 acres of gardens and/or tour the former mansion of Ima Hogg, daughter of one-time Texas Governor James Hogg.  The mansion houses Miss Hogg’s extensive collection of early American art and antiques.  After Bayou Bend, the tour group heads to Carolyn Thompson’s Antique Center of Texas.  A fresh, homemade lunch will be provided at the center’s Texas Tea Room.  After lunch, visitors will have ample time to shop or admire the extensive selection of antiques and collectibles.

    Limited Run Convention Cars
    Houston N’Crowd has commissioned Micro-Trains to produce three special cars for the convention.  The first 300 primary registrants will receive one of the cars as part of their registration fee:  a 40-ft. standard box car with commemorative convention lettering.  Also available for is a special two-car set:  a 60-ft. “N to the Future” excess height box car, and a 56-ft. general service tank car lettered for NASA (“meatball” logo).  These cars are in limited supply, so register early!

    Lodging
    The host facility is the Adam’s Mark Hotel, 2900 Briarpark Dr., Houston.  Special rates of $89 per night (up to four persons per room) are available.  Call the hotel direct at 1-800-444-2326 or 1-713-978-7400 to make your reservations.  Mention the National N Scale Convention to receive the special rate.

    Refunds
    Requests for refunds received after June 1, 2003, cannot be fulfilled.  Refunds requested and awarded prior to June 1, 2003, may be subject to a cancellation fee.
